As students, there is nothing more exciting than to get an opportunity to study abroad. But we do get baffled when it comes to applying for the universities abroad. Begin Your Research Early

It is important that you do your research work at least a year before. Application for graduate degrees will usually available when you are still pursuing your 12th. Students at this level need to prepare to clear SAT.  Those who are looking forward to a post-graduate degree should also look up for applications while they are still in their final year of graduation. Tests such as GRE and TOEFL need to be cleared.

SAT is Scholastic Aptitude and is a standard test used by colleges in the United States of America. Your mathematics, writing skills, and critical reading skills are tested in this test.

GRE is Graduate Records Examination which is a standard test that needs to be cleared to get admission in a Graduate School in the United States of America and some other countries too. Your quantitative reasoning, analytical writing, and verbal reasoning are tested in this exam. The score you get in the exam is valid for 5 years.

TOEFL is Test of English as a Foreign Language which is a standard test to check the English language skills of non-native speakers who are applying in an English speaking university. The scores of this test are used in more than 130 countries for admission in universities.

Universities also look for scores from tests of IELTS (International English Language Testing System) and GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test). They are similar exams that evaluate your skills to get in a university or college overseas.

An SOP or a Statement of Purpose is an important part of the application. You need to write an influential SOP that explains why you want to join the university that you are applying for. This usually contains your personal details, your goals, and internship experience.

Letter of Recommendation

A Letter of Recommendation or LoR comes from a professor under whom you have studied. This letter will highlight your achievements, your attitude towards your education, your academic performance and the potential to do something exceptional. Usually, an undergraduate student will not need to submit a LoR.

Applying Online

The website of the universities/colleges has a dedicated section for international students. Go through the entire form before you can begin filling it. All the documents and test scores need to be uploaded to the website where it directs you to do so. There will be a non-refundable application fee that you need to pay before you can click on the SUBMIT button.

Proving Your Financial Stability

Studying abroad is expensive and the university will require you to share a Proof of Financial Ability so they know you are able to bear your educational and living costs abroad. Most universities will not process the application unless they see the required amount in your account. Interview Process for Abroad Education

Universities will conduct a Skype interview before they can finally approve your admission. Remember to dress formal and look presentable before the camera. You will be aware of the data and time of the interview so you should be prepared and ensure that the setup for an interview is ready at the scheduled time.


Once you are accepted the university will send you a letter of acceptance to which you need to reply within the given period. Once you accept you will be given a student’s visa and the documents that the university would want you to produce at the time of your joining.
